The 5th Confercnce and annualgathering of the Provincial Ministerial Association U,P., P.W.D., B. & R. Branch held its sittings under the Presidentship of Mr. Daya Nand Varma of Meeruton 9th and roth of March1929 at the premisesof the Executive Engineer's Office,Agra,whichwas tastefully decorated with flagsand buntings. The delegates beganto arrive from 8th March 1929 and they were comfortably accommodated in the office-rooms, so kindly permitted to do by the Executive Engineer. The Proceedings on 9thMarch1929 commenced from 12noon and the gathering wasfairlylarge.Mr. E.W. Clarke, I. S. E., Executive Engineeralso gracedthe occasion with his kind presence and took livelyinterestin the proceedings and also in the physical demonstrations shown by ThakurRam Gopal Singh to the amusement of all those present. B. Badri Prasad, Chairman of the Reception Committee, made his speech, welcoming the delegates hailing from differentparts of U. P., apologizing for the mary short comings in the arrangements for the comfortsof the delegates. Mr. Daya Nand Varma, President, while taking his seat on the dias amidst cheersand whilethankingfor the honourconferred on him to preside over the deliberations of the conference for the thirdtime,delivered his eloquent, inspiring and thoroughly characteristic address, which was heard with rapt attention and applauded throughout. He pressedwith his weightyreasonstor grantof time scale,houserent allowance and Provident Fund in lieu of pension.There-after the last year's report was confirmed by the houseand the Hony: Secretary Mr. S.N. Mitraof Cawnpore then read out his annual report apropos the work carriedout by the Provincial Association explaining the figures of receipts and expenditure and as to how matters with regard to present state of affairs stand.
